Rushmoor Writers

Welcome to Rushmoor Writers Group. We are an eclectic bunch of writers – fiction and non-fiction, published, self-published and ever-hopeful, young and not so young, with a wide range of experience – who meet up online (currently via Google Meet) every other Wednesday evening.

Rushmoor Writers Group has members who write crime thrillers, romance, historical fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, short stories and magazine articles (online and in print). We’re happy to have you on board no matter what kind of creative writing you specialise in. We haven’t had any poets for a while!

We welcome writers from Rushmoor and the surrounding areas (North Hampshire, Camberley, Fleet…) but if you live further afield and have a desperate urge to join, we won’t be checking passports.

We’re here to help you tell your stories, and tell them better. We agree wholeheartedly with the late Maya Angelou: “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” We’ll give you friendly, encouraging feedback on your work, and we can also provide advice on attempting to get your work into print. We welcome new faces, new voices and new stories!

So take a look around and if you’re interested in joining, contact us using this form.

You can fine more details about what to expect from the meetings on our About Us page.

And feel free to check out our Blog, which also has samples of short pieces that resulted from our regular Prompts exercises – in some meeting, we give a prompt (a phrase, or an idea, or an image) and our members write short stories or poems or sketches inspired by that prompt, which they then present at the next meeting.

And if you’re wondering why it’s Rushmoor Writers Group, and not Rushmoor Writers’ Group, then we have people who will be happy to debate with you about that for hours too.
